Obituary for Elizabeth Nell Waldrep Strawn

by Conor Dildine March 23, 2023

With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, I Conor Dilldine would like to announce the passing of my kind, brave, caring, unimaginably generous Mother and best friend Elizabeth Nell Waldrep Strawn who passed away March 21 2023. Elizabeth was born in Midland Texas October 30th, 1963, to James W. Strawn and Betty Jo Strawn. When Elizabeth was 8 Years old her mother Betty Jo passed away from a sudden illness at the age of 43. James Strawn then married Dorothy to become his wife to take care of the Strawn children David, Shiela, Debbie, Mari Jo and Elizabeth.

My mom was the last surviving member of the Strawn family. She graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1981 and attended Texas Tech for a brief time after High School. In 1986, My mom met Bobbie Dilldine Jr. in San Angelo, Texas. Bob is my father, but they were never married. On Novemeber 19 ,1991, I was born. My Mom and Dad remained friends till the last day of her life.

In 2002 my mom’s sister Sheila was diagnosed with a brain tumor and Elizabeth moved out to Fort Davis to take care of her.  Shelia passed in 2003. My mom and Brent met the Haywood’s family and went to work on the Frazier Ranch at the end of 2003 and got married in 2005. They continued to work at the ranch till 2013. They moved to Limpia Crossing in 2013 and lived together till 2020.  They divorced a year later but stayed friends.

She was a caregiver for many and helped maintain many properties in Fort Davis. She was an animal lover and wanted to have puppies, we now have 8 German shepherd dogs to live on in her memory. Her favorite thing to do was walking and taking care of the dogs, even with her cancer. She was loved and had many friends that cared for her. I love you mom and will forever be in my heart.

Her graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Saturday March 25th at 1PM.
