Janie Marie Roberts, 79, of Marathon, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Janie lived a life deeply rooted in faith, service, and love.
She was born on February 4, 1947, in Leesville, Louisiana, to Annie Marie and James Frank Hyde.
From a young age, Janie dreamed of being a cowgirl, and in 1969, she met a cowboy, Jack Lee Roberts, who would become the love of her life. They were married on June 5, 1971, and built a life together centered on family, faith, and unwavering devotion.
Janie had a deep love for music and found great joy in playing the piano for her church and for her grandchildren. She was a talented quilter and crocheter, lovingly creating prayer shawls and blankets that brought comfort to those facing cancer and other hardships. Janie also had a gift for hospitality and cooking—no one ever left her home hungry. Her love for her family was evident in all she did. As a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, she poured her life into caring for and nurturing those she loved most.
Janie is survived by her beloved husband, Lee; her children, Lea Ann Morris of San Angelo, TX, Jess Roberts of Lubbock, TX, and Amy Roberts of Marathon, TX; and her grandchildren Gage Williams, Logan Williams, Christopher Stephens, Mia Roberts, Sydney Roberts, Meghan Bahr, Katie Morris, Jack Morris, and Emily Morris. She is also survived by her brother, John Hyde, and her sister, Sandy Farris, both of Bryan, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Frank Hyde.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in support of breast cancer research. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at Mobile Mortician of Texas’ web site: www.mmoftexas.com
