Obituary
Jose “Joe” Villegas (August 5, 1953 – June 7,2025)
It is with great sadness that the family of Jose Villegas announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2025 at the age of 71.
Joe was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico in 1953 and immigrated to the US in 1957. He joined the United States Navy, serving in numerous countries. While on active duty he served on the USS Harold E Holt destroyer escort from 1972-1978 and again from 1990-1991 in support of the Gulf War. After his service, he worked as a car salesman and events manager.
Joe was a true food connoisseur, endlessly seeking out hidden gems tucked away in local, hole-in-the-wall restaurants. He delighted in introducing friends and family to new flavors and experiences, always eager to share his latest culinary discovery. A devoted lover of sweets, Joe was never without a candy in his pocket - ready to brighten someone's day with a small, sugary gift.
wwOutside the kitchen, Joe found joy tending to his garden. With a natural green thumb, he cultivated a backyard sanctuary that he lovingly shared with his loyal dachshund Dixon by his side. His sense of humor was as vibrant as his garden - Joe had a rare gift for finding laughter in any situation, always quick with a joke or a witty remark that lifted the spirits of those around him.
Joe brought light, love, and laughter wherever he went. His warmth, positivity, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him - and his legacy will live on in every shared meal, every blooming flower, and every unexpected moment of joy.
Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Juan and Felipa, sister Ramona, and beloved son Omar. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 53 years: Rosario “Rosie” Flores Villegas; daughter Naomi Deal (Christopher); two grandchildren who were the apples of his eye, granddaughter Diana Ignacia and grandson Dylan Hudson; sisters Elodia, Maria, Marylou and Lydia along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will eternally treasure their memories of Joe.
